On the saturday we arrived and started to set up tents to sleep in; the first night we stayed in the medical and control tents.

For the first week we did jobs around the campsite including camp maintenance. Closer to the show days some cadets went show side to put up the second control tent and a group of cadets called SWAT (for over 18s) set up hundreds of cones as roads thoughout the week.

A couple of days before the show, the aircraft practice their routines over the campsite and it is not until then that you really understand what RIAT is about.

The show days are brilliant; you get to sit 2 metres in front of the crowd, to stop them from going past the safety line, whilst getting an astonishing view.

When RIAT comes to an end you suddenly realise just how many friends you have made and everyone frantically tries to get your contact details so they can keep in touch.

I don’t really know why I haven’t gone before but I will be going again.
