Exercise Griffin
In the October half-term break a small group of cadets, from Thames Valley Wing, journey down to a training base in Cornwall to do different activities such as shooting, archery, radios and first aid training.
We arrive on the Saturday night, when we have out health and safety brief, and are separated into the different flights. The names of the flights are words from the phonetic alphabet (India-I).
We wake up early to march to breakfast, after which we go straight to our activities. The day is packed with things for us to do and above all fun. On the Monday night there is a 'meet and greet' disco which gives the cadets a chance to mingle and get to know each other. On the Wednesday night at another disco there is also a fireworks display. We return home on the Saturday evening, with loads more friends and skills.

Easter Camp 2008
On the second weekend of the school Easter break a group of cadets from Didcot squadron meet up with cadets from different squadrons within Thames Valley Wing to travel to RAF Waddington to spend a week doing different activities; including visits to museums, bowling, shooting and a night exercise, some cadets may even have the chance to fly in a military aircraft.
Our week was planned by the staff members, including dress code, time and location of activity. Every morning we have an inspection, on uniform and bed space, we get marks out of ten.
In our free time we prepare our uniform for the following day. If there is a NAFFI (a place the members of the RAF go to and relax) and get to know the other cadets on the camp. On the following Saturday we return home, by the end of the week the cadets don’t want to go home but we return home with loads more skills.

Each year cadets have the opportunity to visit working RAF Stations for a week camp to experience the service’s way of life. These camps are held at UK RAF stations and overseas in Gibraltar and Cyprus.
A few leading cadets can be selected to represent the UK in a world-wide exchange scheme with cadets from other countries on a scheme called the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE).
